The Class Forty Preservation Society, owners of 40106, 40135 and 40145, has announced that D345/40145 will be returning to the East Lancs Railway after the hire agreement with Locomotive Services of Crewe has been ended early by mutual agreement. The hire agreement was terminated with effect from 31st December. This follows "Adverse comments on Class 40 related Facebook groups". The comments reportedly spilled over to the Andania Facebook Group.
These comments were deemed to be unhelpful to the working relationship between the C.F.P.S. and Locomotive Services and the unfortunate decision was made to return D345/40145 to Bury two months early. The C.F.P.S. are said to have lost income from the two months of hire fees for January and February 2022.
