47787 is seen at Carlisle on the back of 1Z20, "The Christmas Dalesman" from Hellifield. 47804 was the train engine on the outward run to Carlisle. Both of these West Coast 47s have been out of action at their home depot of Carnforth since the end of 2007 as they are not yet fitted with an On Train Monitoring Recorder (OTMR).

47804 is seen at Hellifield with Kingfisher Railtours 1Z20 "The Christmas Dalesman" from Hellifield to Carlisle via the Settle & Carlisle. 47787 was the tail locomotive. Steam 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' was booked to work this tour but was unavailable after undergoing recent boiler work at Bury. West Coast Railways, the tour operator stepped in with a pair of their 47s working top & tail.

57601 is seen at Tallington with the Railway Touring Co's 1Z90 "The Christmas White Rose" from London King's Cross to York. 47804 was the tail loco. Steam A4 Pacific number 60019 'Bittern', a recent newcomer to the mainline, worked the return leg back to King's Cross with 57601 on the rear.

50049 'Defiance' is seen at Brooksman Park with Pathfinder Tours 1Z50 "The Lincoln Marketeer" the 05.50 from Salisbury to Lincoln and Barnetby. This was one of several railtours whose destination was the Christmas Fayre at Lincoln. 50049 should be joined on the mainline next year by 50044 'Exeter' and hopefully 50026 'Indomitable'. 50049 is due to undergo maintenance at Old Oak Common over the winter and 50026 is still being repaired at RVEL Derby.

This loco is now reported to be for sale by Victa Westlink Rail. This was the second railtour operated by DRS since Victa Westlink had their passenger licence withdrawn.

This was the last railtour operated by Victa Westlink Rail. Future Hertfordshire Rail Tours are expected to be operated by DRS using DRS traction.

31452 'MINOTAUR' & 31454 'HEART OF WESSEX' are seen near Northampton with a Queen of Scots charter from Kensington Olympia to Derby. 31128 'CHARYBDIS' was the tail engine. The three class 31s were previoulsy FMR locos and are now operated by Mainline Rail and Nemesis Rail. 31454 is the last mainline loco to carry the once common InterCity red stripe livery.

55022 'Royal Scots Grey' returned to mainline railtour duties after a break of one year after receiving a successful number two engine replacement following last years "leg out of bed" incident. Number 22 is seen at Tallington, North of Peterborough with the 1Z50 07.20 London King's Cross to Inverness "Autumn Highlander" which it worked as far as Perth. 50049 'Defiance' was the tail engine and brought the ECS into King's Cross from Old Oak Common.

Cotswold Rail operated 47818 is seen at Acton Gate with a Colchester to Oxenholme "Blue Pullman" charter. The 47 failed on the return leg near Northallerton, after being re-routed via the Tyne Valley and ECML, and was dragged into York station by an EWS 67 where the tour was terminated. This was unfortunate for Cotswold Rail who usually operate these tours with 2 Class 47s in top and tail mode.

DRS 20311 "Class 20 'Fifty'" & 20315 are seen at Tapton Junction with the 1Z20 Hertfordshire Railtours' InterCity Merrymaker "The Jolly Fisherman" from Barrow Hill to Skegness. 47832 was used as the tail loco as far as Derby where it was removed. This railtour revived memories of 20s which regularly hauled summer passenger trains to Skegness until the early 1990s.

Newly named 40145 'East Lancashire Railway' with the 1Z45 York to Preston 'John Fishwick & Sons' 'The Fishwick Centenarian' passing through the Hope Valley at Wash. The 40 was attached at Carlisle, replacing 6201 'Princess Elizabeth' which had brought the train over the S&C from Preston. The CFPS owned loco was named at Bury Bolton Street on 25th July as part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations at the East Lancashire Railway and in memory of the late Trevor Jones who was ELR Chairman from 1974-2001. 28/07/07

Mainline Rail owned 31454 "The Heart of Wessex" accelerates through Bedminster with the 1Z30 08.44 from Bristol Temple Meads to Weston-super-Mare. A number of special services ran to Weston-super-Mare in conjunction with the T4 'Party on the Beach' on Sunday 22nd July. 31452 "Minotaur" was the tail engine. These special services were operated by Victa Westlink Rail on behalf of First Great Western.

20311 & 20315 are seen after arriving at Barrow Hill with the 1Z80 from Earles Sidings. This was the last train of the four special tours that ran during the Barrow Hill Diesel gala.

HNRC 20901 and 20905 waiting to leave Barrow Hill platform with the 1Z60 "The Hope Valley Explorer" to Earles Sidings. This was the last train of 4 that worked during the two day Diesel Gala from Barrow Hill. DRS provided 20311 "Class 20 'Fifty'" and 20315 at the other end of the train. Both pairs of 20 were removed at the Lafarge cement works loop where Hunslet 0-6-0 industrial shunter "Laura" hauled the train into the Cement Works with 20168 "Sir George Earle" at the tail end. The shunter was removed at the cement works, then 20168 hauled the six coach train up the gradient back to the loop where it was replaced by 20311 and 20315, with 20905 and 20901 on the rear for the return back to Barrow Hill via Sheffield.

66411 "Eddie the Engine" and 66405 at Hayton with the DRS special tour from Carlisle to Newcastle which was run in connection with the DRS Open Day at Carlisle Kingmoor Depot on the same day. Newly repainted 47501 was the tail loco and was used to supply ETH for the DRS Mk3 stock. This was the first ever public railtour run by DRS, as previous tours had been private tours for DRS employees.
