Regular Loco Hauled Service to Start on the Settle & Carlisle (26.06.20)

Rail Charter Services has announced that it will run a new regular diesel hauled service starting on Monday 20th July and running until Saturday 12th September. The new service will see three round trips per day running from Monday to Saturday utilising ex Anglia Mk3 First Class coaches with a Mk2 brake coach hauled by top and tailed Locomotive Services class 47s. Starting at Skipton, the service will run to Appleby where passngers can alight and do further add on trips or visit Appleby itself. Promoted jointly by Rail Charter Services, a Locomotive Services sister company and the Settle & Carlisle Railway Development Company, the new service will utilise the spare paths on the lightly used Settle and Carlisle Railway. Passengers will be able to book in two or fours and will maintain social disatancing in the more spacious First class coaches. Plastic screens will be fitted between each bay of seats, and passngers will be encouraged to stay in their pre-allocated seats.
Not since the 'Tornado' hauled 'plandampf' steam trips which ran in 2017, has the Settle & Carlisle seen a regular loco hauled service.

Pre-booking is required. For more information and online bookings, visit the Rail Charter Services website click here.
